Help me! I have just set up my computer and discovered
that my mouse isn't working. It's all plugged in fine,
but there is absolutely no cursor on the screen and I need
help. I've tried navigating with the keyboard, re-booted
countless times and re-installed Windows 98 but so far
it's been extremely futile and tedious. Can anyone help?
Please feel free to e-mail me with any suggestions:
(e-mail address removed). Thank you!

This is a newsgroup, you get answers here, not by email.
Borrow or buy another mouse and try it, you can get a mouse
for as little as a few dollars. It is likely that the mouse
or the cord is defective.
Is this a new computer that has not been setup before or is
it one you just moved and setup in a new location?
When you say it is all "plugged in fine" check to see that
the it really is.

Open the control panel and look at the mouse and pointer
section.

BTW, this is a Windows XP hardware group and you say you are
using Windows 98.

Wrong newsgroup. Notice the "XP" in this newsgroup name. There is no
"98" in its name.

If there is no cursor, a mouse was never detected. Do you have it
plugged into a USB port? Have you tried plugging it into a PS/2 port?
It's been too many years since I used an 95-based Windows, but didn't
Windows 98 require some update, patch, or fix to support USB? Tried a
different mouse? If it is a cordless mouse, have you tried new
batteries? Have you tried testing with a tethered mouse temporarily?
