My links on Action buttons in powerpoint keep getting re-written

I put action buttons in a Power point presentation and link them to documents
I want to display (PDF's) When I run slide show they work fine. I save and
close the document. When I re-open, the links are corrupted they all start
with ..\..\..\..\ The rest of the file address is okay. It's not because
some one is moving files. The files are in my network directory. I can save
the presentation and open it immediately and they are messed up. Anybody got
any ideas on why the links keep breaking? Does going across a network have
anything to do with it?

Try to keep your path length to less than 128 characters.

A few questions:

What version of PPT? Is it up to date with current service packs?

How are you viewing the links - that is, where do you see the ..\..\.. etc?

Do the links still work when you click them in slide show view?

For starters, check File, Properties and on the Summary tab, ensure that no
Hyperlink Base is set (ie, delete any text in the text box).
