Hello everyone,
I am part of a network in which everyone has static IPs. The gateway
is 192.168.0.1 and my IP is 192.168.0.28.
Ok now I have two LAN cards. 1st LAN is configured for the above
mentioned IP. 2nd LAN is for my home use. I use it to connect to my
brother's computer. No static IP for it, and i usually keep this LAN
connection disabled.
But when I enable it, my IP changes to 169.254.64.8. I know this by
PINGing myself. My brother's computer is running Win98 and he too
hasnt set any static IP. Although this changing of my IP doesnt cause
much harm, but my LAN chat program (Vypress) stops working. Why does
my IP changes to 164.x.x.x ?? Cant it remain 192.168.0.28 ?
And I would also like to know something more. I think data
communication between my computer and my bro's is slow. I think thats
because of dynamic IP. Can i make it static ? how ? Will it conflict
with my previous network and IP of the other LAN card ?
Thank you,
Faraz Azhar
