Whenever I access the internet things run fine for a
while then an error message comes up saying that the
computer has to shut down due to unexpected termination
of the connection (or something like this). it says the
remote assistance caused some problem (or something like
this)It counts down for 1 minute then shuts down.

Can u give me a solution and fast cause my internet does
now work at all for the past 5 days.

Sounds like you have the Blaster worm virus. This will
give you Remote Procedure Call (RPC) errors when you
cruise the internet. Once the error occurs, you will have
one minute before computer restart. The solution can be
found at
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32
..blaster.worm.html

You need to modify the settings in your running services
to prevent the computer from shutting down before you can
get the fix off this site, or you can download it from
another computer, put the fix program on a floppy and run
it from there.

If it is an error in RPC, to stop your computer from
restarting, go to My Computer on your desk top, right
click. Click on "Manage" in the pop-up menu. The
computer management console should come up. Click on
Services and Applications. Within this, click on Services.
Find Remote Procedure Call (RPC), not to be confused with
Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Locator. Highlight Remote
Procedure Call (RPC) with one left click, then right click
and choose properties from the menu. In the properties
box, click on Recovery Tab at the top. Under the First
Failure, Second Failure and Subsequent Failures, pull down
the menu to change from "Restart the computer" to "Restart
the service". Hit "Apply" at the bottom, Then close out
all open windows. You should now be able to connect to
the internet and not have the computer restart problem.

Once you have rid your computer of the virus and update
Windows XP by the patch at Windows Update Site, be sure to
put back the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) settings to their
original recovery mode.

Hope this helps - Terry
