I am a computer illiterate. My install continually
fails. There is a direction to somehow turn off the
viris detecter. I have a (bought with the computor)
Norton Anti Viris 2002. How do I turn it off in case
this is the problem with the install.I am terrible with
directions.

Bob Foley just posted this which may assist you (just in case you didn't see
it I've pasted what he had to say here)-

I finally was able to install the security patch SP1.
Here's what I did:
1. stop anti-virus and firewall software
2. stop cryptographic program, do this by:
A. click on control panel.
B. click on performance and maintenance
C. click on administrative tools
D. click on services. From here you should see a menu,
look for cryptographic services. It should say started.
Click on this line and a stop line shows up, click on
stop. Exit all of this and download your SP1 or
whatever. Once download is complete, go to the start
button at lower left. do a file search of files for
SP1. Once you find the SP1 file, click it on and an
install wizard window comes up. Now you can complete the
install. I have dial up and it took at least 90 minutes.
Make sure you turn on all the stuff that was turned off.
Good luck!
