I am installing to a new computer, and I have in the past just copied my .pst
file however I was told that if I was still using the same .pst file that it
could cause me problems because the size of my .pst file is almost 2 gig's.
I thought that outlook 2003 allowed for 20 gig, but I never exported my data
and imported in to a clean file.

When I tried to export the data and then import it into the new file I
didn't get all of the info I.E. data up thru 24 december came thru but thats
it.

I also have business contact manager but I have not yet installed it. I
also have the new 2006 office package but I haven't installed any of it yet
either, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,
Ray

I'd start with a new profile created via the Mail icon in Control Panel and
ensure the PST is in the new Unicode format. A new default PST should be in
that format. Then, open your old PST and copy the items to the new PST.
If you're sure the new PST is Unicode then simply open the old PST from
within Outlook and copy the items over.

Ok I created the new file, but how do I import this into my new outlook 2003
file? I'm not sure how to have them both open at once?

Also is office 2007 Stable enough for me to change to that rather than use
office 2003?

Thanks BillR for the advice so far

Within OL open the old pst file, then copy across.

Judging by posts 2007 beta seems to be giving rise to numerous probs.

Ok, just to be sure from within outlook File, Open, then direct it to the
location of the outlook files that I moved from my old pc to the new pc [it a
sub directory of the normal outlook data directory] ? When I tried this
earlier outlook seemed to lock up? the size of the Datafile is 1954257

or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks again

Ray

There is a 2gb limit on earlier version pst's, problems can occur when
larger than 1.6gb, the pst may be damaged.
Try running the inbox repair tool, scanpst.exe.
Seemed to lockup or did?

old archive file to this mailbox or list it in my list of files?

and is it possible to import my signature file or do I have to recreate it.

If the old pst is now active in OL2003, you would be advised to either
create an OL2003 format (unicode) pst and copy data across, or if you
allready have a unicode pst (properties will tell you), copy data to it.
Your old pst is borderline size wise and could become unuseable at any time.
Avoid import/export simply open any pst within OL and copy data as required.
Once again if the old archive is pre OL2003 there will be same size
limitation issues
