My IE browser is always Displaying "Page Cannot Be Displayed"

When i connect to the internet I cannot go to any
websites, as it always comes up with the message "Page
cannot be displayed". When I try using other programs to
access the internet they also don't work. I am definatly
connected however, as I have checked with my ISP.
