There must be more to this question than meets the eye.
I take it you know you can burn a CD right. Or do you not have one?

If you have no CD rom you might want to think of some of the new USB
external drives available now that can be used for routine backup.
This would be helpful also in case of a catastrophic crash later too.
Backup's that is.

Take the drive out, attach it to another system via a USB2 drive case or
adapter, and copy your data files off. Be sure you get them all; a sure
way to do this is to take an image of the drive using something like the
trial version of Acronis True Image. You can reduce the image size by
deleting the two large files in the root, pagefile.sys and hiberfil.sys.
You can also locate and delete the content.ie5 folders and empty the temp
folders. Empty the recycle bin.

Once the image is made, mount it and open a few files to be sure that the
image was successful. Then you can wipe the drive and do a clean install
or destructive restore, and then when the system is working re-attach the
drive to the image system and copy your data files back.

Alternately, and this won't work if your system relies on a restore
partition instead of CDs, get a new hard disk, and treat the old one as a
backup. The new disk should be in the under $100 range, for drives up to
about 160 gif. You will still need the drive case or adapter to gain
access to the old drive, and that part is around $20.
