my hit counter does not work

I have a hit counter on FP2003 on a company intranet site but it does not
increase on hits.
The server has the extensions.
I have deleted and re added but nothing changes

Can any one help

Run a server health check and let FP correct the permissions.

Ran the healtrh check which came back as everything ok
problem still exisits

Did check all the options so that FP would reset them?
