Hi everyone

Yesterday i've downloaded the Vista beta 2 and installed it on my new
Compaq nx9420 notebook ( Centrino Dual core T2400, 1Gb RAM,100Gb SATA,
ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 - PCI Express 256 MB ).

The installation of Vista itself went well without any problem.
It took about 70mins to install Vista ( especially the first 2 steps
took long copying and extracting ). Almost all the devices are detected
and installed correctly out off the box ( only the modem and audio is
not working ).

After this i started to install Office 2003 and this went quite fast.

Then i tried Borland BDS2006 Prof and Visual studio 2005 Standard, but
this took together about 5 hours ( BDS2006 about 3 hours and VS 2 hours
) ! Last week i got my notebook and did the same on Win XP Pro ( the
default installed os on the laptop ) and it took all together 1.5 hours.

Why this big different , anyone else noticed the same ?

I also noticed that Vista itself is not so fast. Somethimes when i
start a application with double clicking the icon, is see a delay of
sometimes a few seconds before the application starts, sometimes is
starts directly.

Regards,
Peter Everix

Remember that Vista code has not been fully optimized. It would be
counterproductive to do so until the bugs have been found and fixed.

The code of beta is not performance optimized yet. At this point in beta
testing MS is sorting out bugs which prevent functionalities and compability.
After those are solved, comes performance tweaking of code. Also 1G memory
seems quite sluggish with Vista at the moment, that i agree purely.
