My file crashed

I had an excel 2002 file that crashed, and lost all formatting. Brought it
back up with OpenOffice.Org, but still don't have all formatting. Critical
component to workbook are checkboxes needed to compute budget; any ideas on
how to create these?
 
yes, used the recovery program built in to Excel, but still lost all
formatting. Was able to bring some back with OpenOffice.org, but not all.
Checkboxes were part that wasn't retrieved; need those boxes badly, can't
remember how to create but can format them.
 
No previous copies of the file available that you could just update with the
recovered data?

What kind of checkboxes were they - ie was it a box that you clicked on and a
tick appeared, in which case try the one on the Forms toolbar and see if that
helps. Create the box, rightclick it and choose Format Control / Cell Link to
link it wherever.
