About 5 days ago, while working on the internet,
something happened to my favorites and home web page. I
tried to change the home page and delete the bad
favorites, but they continue to return everytime I start
the computer. I have used spybot and mcafee security
software, to no avail. I believe my register page has
been compromised. What do I do?

CoolWebSearch spyware or it's variants may cause this. Even Ad-Aware may not remove it fully.

First eliminate any scumware.
See

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.
Make sur you try CWShredder.
If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
