Unless you pay for Hotmail Plus or Hotmail Premium, you can't, and even if
you do, it must be at least Outlook 2002.

i really need this to work as i email many estimates to potential customers!

Hotmail accounts created before April 2005 can still be accessed using
Outlook 2002/03 or Outlook Express. New accounts created since April
2005 needs to be upgraded - for a fee - to stop spammers creating
temporary accounts to send spam mesages.

Even that is being terminated.

I am still using them with my 5 email accounts created before April
2005. The new one (6th account) created December 2005 is a complete no
go!!

Have you tried using your old account? I would be surprised if it
doesn't work unless you have already spammed people using that
account(s) in the past - in which case you have yourself to blame.

You miss the point. I've seen reports from reliable sources that MSN is in
the process of turning off access to ALL free Hotmail accounts, including
those they have previously grandfathered.

The report I saw stated that old accounts will continue to receive the
same service as before unless the account holder is abusing the facility
to spam people. The whole idea for turning off the facility is to
minimise spam messages. As you may know, using OE or OL one can send
unlimited messages in a day but using hotmail web-based interface the
limit is 100 per day. Also, the number of addresses in TO, CC, or BCC
is only 25 for any messages but it is unlimited if using OL or OE.

I very much hope they don't turn off my facility as this is very useful
to me to keep copies of old messages on my own system. Also, it is very
fast.

Best regards,
