My laptop has a combo dvdrom(toshiba sd-r2102), today,
when I was watching dvd, it suddenly stopped and then I
can't see the dvdrom label on my computer. After I reboot
it, it still can't find the dvdrom, and said that the
driver were broken. I think I did nothing wrong, please
help me!!!

Hi,

Try boot in safe mode and login as administartor, go to
device manager, hightlight the DVD rom and right click
then select uninstall, click apply and OK then reboot.
After reboot, windows should search and re-install the
DVD rom drivers.

Or, go to Toshiba website to download the dvd drive of
your model and install it.

Open Letter to Microsoft.. Get the DVD/CD issues solved!!!

I just had to do a full reinstall of WinXP.. from formatting the harddrive
up.. meaning that I lost close to two years of letters, money files, and
downloads [program updates, legal MP3's, ect..]

My wife wanted to know why I loss so much data when I would do a back-up
each week...

And all I could tell here is that for some reason the CD/RW & DVD+RW data
disc's are unreadable.. I had only tested reading the discs on the machine
that created them.. mine!! I tried reading the discs on three other systems
and they were unreadable!!

Everyday I read in this forum how somebody's DVD/CD is no longer being
displayed correctly on their system after doing an XP UPDATE.

Get the DVD/CD drivers fixed!!
