My Dvd-rw wont read any disc, at all, help

It won't read anything except blank DVDs , it will spin and that is it,
Help help help

I had nero, so I guess that messes it up, I tried all the fixes I could ,
but nothing, than you !!!!


I have xp pro and have a lite-on DVDRW SOHW-1693S

No, nero does not mess up the drive. Drives don't need much help for such a
task.

Instead, what is most likely is that the laser which allows the drive to
upload/download from the disk is broken. The most cost effective procedure
is to replace the drive.

Agreed. The way you describe the problem sounds very much like a CD
drive that's gone to Boot Hill. Been there, done that - and it was a
Lite-On drive, too. (Frankly, the damned thing never worked perfectly
from Day 1, and went downhill from there). I eventually wised up, and
replaced it with an aftermarket Sony drive. And lived happily ever
after. I also agree with Jim in that I doubt sincerely it's Nero. A
decent replacement drive can be had for $30 without too much searching
around.
