My dvd drive is there but not there!

My dvd drive show as working properly and is recognised, but whatever type of disk I put in it says there is no disc in there! I have tried system restore and that has no effect! Any ideas anyone? Thanks in advance for your advice

SOLUTION:
===========
Please check if you have any third-party software running on your system
like Cyberlink Power DVD or WinDVD. Try for an updated driver from the
third-pary site.

OR

Please uninstall the software and try accessing.

You could also try cleaning the DVD Drive with a cleaning CD to clean the
lens.
