In a folder where I have a set of music files (.mp3s) SOME of the tracks show
Title, Artist, Album, Track Number, Length etc but others only show Track
Title and artist.
If I rightclick, Properties>Summary I get a page that shows all the details
I want ticked and they all display on the page. If I right click on a file
immediately below this which does not show Album, size, track no etc I get
the same page but only two boxes ticked, and they are the two that show up.
How can I get ALL the pages inside this folder to show a)the same and b) the
expanded detail I want. Rightclick on the name bar also shows that the page
is ticked for all the detail but it won't show on many of the files. I can't
find anything in Customise but maybe it's there and I don't know how to
activate it.
thanks

Us a Tag editor to input the extra info.

Cheers,

Not exactly sure what you mean. If you mean use my Music Library to tag the
files with album, track no etc I've already done that in MusicMatch (which I
use to tag initially) and I also tried it in MediaMonkey, which I use now as
my library. Some of the files show up tagged in Windows, most don't. I have
a couple of hundred folders and 13,000 files - this particular one, which I
tagged yesterday, is the first one to exhibit this phenomenon. To be
absolutely accurate, they're in a folder called "Zombies. The sub-folder is
"Decca Anthology". There are 48 tracks and only 14 show Album, Track Number,
Artist, Duration. All show mp3 as the file type. In the same Zombies folder
I have another sub-folder "Greatest Hits" and all show Album,Artist, Title,
Length Track No. Why is Properties different for mp3 files in the same
folder? I am mystified.

Cos they're not tagged correctly or are using the wrong tag version. Simple.

And, sorry, should have said use a DECENT Tag editor. ID3-Tag is one of the
best.

Information here :

http://www.id3-tagit.de/

But the links don't always works so download from here

http://download.cnet.com/ID3-TagIT/3000-2169_4-10544467.html

Save as you go along in v2.3 tags. Its worked for me EVERY time. It won't
batch save, or I haven't found out how to, so happy typing !

Cheers,
Jerry

BTW, google is your best friend ......

Annex :

It doesn't matter what your folders or sub folders are called. Zero
importance.

What matters is the info that is "attached" or tagged to the song in
question.

Use IDE3-Tagit as suggested in my previous mail. Make sure you save as you
go along et voilà !

Jerry

Thanks for that - I didn't see your replies (I thought they would come
through to my email?). Google is good if you know the question you want to
ask but I didn't know what to ask. I have re-tagged using MediaMonkey (where
the files will eventually be organised) and that worked - no idea why
MusicMatch didn't do it this time after years and years of doing exactly as
it has been asked.???
