Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I can remove the My Documents icon
from the desktop, and still have the icon show in the save as save in bar?

Removing the "My Documents Icon" from your desktop will
still allow you to save to the My Documents folder. The
icon on your desktop is just a shortcut to the folder.
*When you click on it and hit delete it will tell you that
by removing it the files will not be deleted*
