I hate the stupid "My Documents" Folder, and all the
ridiculous folders that "magically appear" inside it. Is
there any way to configure WinXP so that the My Documents
folder becomes null, and stops automatically creating
folders inside itself and stops forcing itself to the
fore whenever I open Windows Explorer?

My Documents is a good folder but is misused by many companies which don't
want to let the user decide how to organize their files. I personally can't
stand to find the Adobe folder in "My Documents" or "My eBooks" from
Microsoft. Nonetheless, if you use it, it has many advantages, such as
showing up in Other Places in the task pane. It is also the default for
downloads and many other operations. Maybe you should consider not fighting
it. You may be able to configure the folder other programs use so you get
fewer stray folders. In 2006 with Longhorn there will be new, revolutionary,
and faster ways to find and organize your files so I consider "My Documents"
a temporary, but for most users, necessary evil.

You can fight it but there will be many tweaks to make, some other users
will probably suggest some in this thread.

Remove Adobe's My eBooks folder.

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Reader\Plug_ins
and move the
eBook.api file up into the Optional folder.
Or delete the damn thing like I did.

Yes, that is what I wanted, it worked, now for the My
Pictures folder, I think it is created by Paint Shop Pro,
by cannot identify any configuration settings that
control it.

My Pictures folder is created by XP.

Change the location of the My Music or My Pictures folders
Contributed by Larry Samuels
[[In Windows 2000, Microsoft added the ability to right-click the My
Documents folder and choose a new location for that folder in the shell.
With Windows XP, Microsoft has elevated the My Music and My Pictures folders
to the same "special shell folder" status of My Documents, but they never
added a similar (and simple) method for changing those folder's locations.
However, it is actually pretty easy to change the location of these folders,
using the following method.

Open a My Computer window and navigate to the location where you'd like My
Music (or My Pictures) to reside. Then, open the My Documents folder in a
different window. Drag the My Music (or My Pictures) folder to the other
window, and Windows XP will update all of the references to that folder to
the new location, including the Start menu.]]
