My Documents folder won't Expand Properly in Windows Explorer

Hello,

Recently, when I double click on the My Documents folder, it won't
expand in the left "Folders" pane. I have numerous folders under My
Documents and in order to expand it, I have to first double click on a
folder that *does* show up in the right pane, and then the plus sign
will appear in front of My Documents, and then I can click on the plus
sign on the My Documents folder to expand the view to reveal all
folders under it.

This used to work some time ago, but I'm not sure what happened to
crap this out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

At the toolbar click on folders and it will expand the

You don't have a left pane when dbl clicking on My Documents.

No, I do have a left pane, any My Documents appears in it. It simply
won't let me expand the subfolders underneath it unless I choose one
of those folders displayed in the right pane first - expand *it* - and
then go back (to the left pane) and click on the plus sign that only
appears after I perform this bizarre ritual. Was working fine until a
couple of weeks ago.

That part is working fine - meaning - I can see the folder list OK,
it's just getting the My Documents folder to expand is what doesn't
work - unless I do what I outline below.
