I checked if I had the problem described in MS KB170086 and everything
is correct in my registry. I am using Windows 2003 Server and
recently underwent a boot drive letter change. Everything else works
fine, just this annoyance.

Thanks!

Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Locate the Userinit value in the right pane. Its value should read

C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,

If your system is not installed on C:\Windows, then modify the path
accordingly for your system.
