My Docs not available in normal mode

After logging onto my PC, I go to My Documents and
everything within the folder disappears, and everything in
the system tray disappears as well. However, if I navigate
to the My Documents folders from within any application (MS
Word for example), I have no problem finding my files.

I also cannot access anything within the Control Panel.

I booted up in Safe Mode and everything works just fine.

<I have not installed any applications recently and this
just started happening over the last couple of days. My
virus scan software is also up to date>

Any ideas?

I have the same problem. I cannot access My Documents
nor MY ComputerNor Control Panel. Did the Adware fix
things? I tried System restore and nothing.

Instead of asking here about Ad Aware, why not try it:
www.lavasoftusa.com

There are other possible causes but in this case, Ad Aware and a Virus scan
are the least invasive approaches to this issue. Even if it didn't work for
the other person with the issue does not mean it wouldn't work for you and
in either case, if these utilities come up clean, they pretty well rule out
one potential cause. If you have any worries, create a restore point in
System Restore before running Ad Aware. Start\All
Programs\Accessories\System Tools\System Restore.
