my default promgram for outlook contacts is not working

I am trying to mail merge 8660 avery labels from my contact list in outllook
to word. i set up the outlook as the default program for e-mail, contacts
and calendar but every time i try to set up the labels to choose it gives me
the same error message about not setting up the default programming when i
already have
