my d drive is gone

okay... i was told that i cannot copy data or pics into my d drive.. because
it cannot write to d drive.. okay, im not that computer literate, anyhow, i
installed a free version of NIT cd creator and all of the sudden my d drive
was gone. i went to my computer and it did not even show up.. i cannot eject
it or anything. it tells me there is no device. i uninstalled that new
program and my d drive does not show up. all i wanted to do is download
something where i can copy my pics to the d drive. can anyone help, because i
am quite upset at what i have done, and dont know where to go
 
i mean my cd rom drive,it was gone. what i did is i took it out and put one
that i had in my office. it seems to work okay, but if it is not being used
and i go to my computer, i cannot see it. i dont get it. all i wanted to do
is copy pics to this to save on a cd rom. i tried doing this again with this
drive and it does not give me the option to drag to it or copy to it...
