my computers brand new and it takes 5 minutes to download a song with adsl.

my notebook has p4 2.2 512mb ram and nothing stored in it
and it talkes forever to download a song. fastest i've
seen is 44kbps. are there some settings i could change?
 
How to you connect to the internet: dialup, satellite, DSL, or cable? A fast
connection will make all the difference. Even so, sometimes the download
will be slow anyway because of bottlenecks at the other end.
 
It depends from hat web site you are downloading that song. If you are using
those (illegal) music sharing systems, the song might be comming from
someones home pc, which is behind 56 kbs modem. So your donwload speed
cannot be faster than that. But if you are downloading music legally from
some commercial web site, you shoud get much faster speeds.
