"My Computer"

I use Windows XP Version 5.1 Service pack 2. When I go to "My Computer" then
into my C: drive and try to open a folder to list the files in the folder it
goes to the "Search" function. For some reason it will not open the folder
and list the file it goes into the "Search" function. How do I get it back
to the way it was when it listed the files in the folders when the file
folders are opened??
