'my computer'

i have windows XP with sp2. for some unknown reason when i open 'my computer'
it is blank, i get the searching torch but then nothing. up until this my
system has been running realy well. any help or advice appreciated.

Other than the KB article mentioned by another replier, I have a scsi cdrom.
Typically takes about 30 seconds for windows to interrogate the slow
20MB/sec ultrascsi interface, the cdrom, and the actual CD disk contents.
The "fix" is to not have any CD in it. Its longer access time in the
Windows Millenium Edition if any consolation. Everything is fine, once the
scsi cdrom has been initially accessed, including the CD game it usually
contains by MS.
