"My Computer" won't open

I just upgraded from Windows 98 to Windows XP home edition. When I click
"My computer" a little flashlight waving back and forth over a file icon
comes on and it takes 5 minutes or more (I kid you not) for "My computer"
to open. How do I fix this?

Nita, it might be something left over from Win98, driver, vxd, dll. Did
you do a WinXP Hardware Compatability
Check to see if your computer could handle XP? You can find some info
