Sounds like a Motherboard/BIOS or hardware/device problem rather than an
Windows XP problem. Have tried contacting the Manufacturer's of these
products?

Reformat your hard drive??

But you said "wait till the bios menu come up than plug my harddrive back in
to finise the bootup".

If I am reading this correctly, when you have a removable hard drive plug
in, the BIOS POST screen will not appear until the removable hard drive is
unplugged. If this is correct, Windows XP is NOT your problem. I would guess
the motherboard or the removable hard drive is your problem. Therefore there
is no need to reformat the hard drive.

thxs idid have a removeable harddrive and when i turned it off my computer
bootedup fine

I would seriously consider a BIOS update from the motherboard manufaturer if
available and also a firmware update for your removable hard drive from the
manufactuere if available. There is a SEVERE risk involved when performing
these actions. You can render your motherboard useless or your removable
hard drive.

Is it possible you BIOS hard drive detection is set to "User inputted" or
words to that effect instead of Auto detect?
