My Computer window keeps losing toolbar customizations

One of the first things I do to my folder windows is change the toolbar
layout. I turn off all text on buttons, set them to large icons, and I move
the Address bar up and to the left of the Standard bar. Then I lock the
toolbars and continue on my merry way.

Lately, however, My Computer (and ONLY that folder) occasionally resets to
(some) defaults: selective text on buttons and the Address bar below the
Standard bar (although yesterday selective text did not come on--first time
ever--but it did today when it happened again).

I'm running XP Pro SP1 (Build 2600.xpsp2.030422-1633: Service Pack 1). has
anyone else seen this behavior? Can anything be done about it?

Hi Jeff,

See if this helps/applies in your case: Which includes Save Settings on
Exit.

Windows remembers 400 folder settings. When that number is reached some
settings aren't retained any longer. You can change this to 8000 by adding
this edit to the registry.

Run this edit, then reset your preferred folder options:

Increase Folder View Options Limit: (Line 2)

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

Good luck and keep us posted. :o)
