"My Computer" will not list drives. Freezes after restart. See more...

After I restart my machine, I can do pretty much everything like usual. When
I double click on "My Computer" icon I get a white background folder and an
hourglass stuck in the loop going and going. I can see and list files in
other folders fine, but not "My Computer." Also, when I click on the drop
down list in any of the folders, the folder freezes and will not give me the
drop down list. I can not browse from inside any application either because
when the drive list is required it just hangs there. Strangely enough, a few
minutes later this behavior stops and I can double click "My Computer" just
fine, but the View always resets from what I had it set up at. Anyway, XP
Pro SP1 with all critical updates on 3.06Ghz P4 with 512MB DDR Ram, two
120GB drives. XP is a fresh install about a week old. Did the fresh install
just to fix the above situation to no avail. I think it might be the latest
updates or something. No System Restore. Hate that feature. Had this machine
for about 5-6 months with no troubles. Any ideas?

Thanks.

This may have been due to faulty installation of my Printer/Scanner Driver.
The Icon for the scanner of course appears on that list in "My Computer."
Maybe it didn't know what that was and was looking for it for so long. So
far so good.
