Hi All,
My system is Win2000 Pro SP4 on Peer to Peer Network. Sometime my computer
lost the lease to its IP address. People on my network keep complaining me
that why I "Reboot" my computer!?
I checked the system event. I got
+The warning messagge:
"Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the
DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 0030AD408217. The
following error occured:
The semaphore timeout period has expired. . Your computer will continue to
try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP)
server."
+Then the Error Message:
"Your computer has lost the lease to its IP address 192.168.1.2 on the
Network Card with network address 0030AD408217. "
What is posible to cause this problem?
Thank you,
Ben
If you are receiving an IP to start with then the DHCP server is working
fine.
Depending on if this happens regularly, maybe you could try changing the
network card.
It could be a faulty card...maybe....just a thought.
Hello Ben,
If you're on a peer to peer network then you're probably using a piece of
hardware to act as your DHCP server. Confirm this device is working
properly. Also you could try to renew your lease manually with the
following commands...
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
the DHCP server should respond to these commands. If not check your
hardware.

Verifiy that you have the latest drivers for that card installed.

Could this problem not be that the lease from your dhcp server lasts until a
date in 2003 and as your pc thinks its 2004 it thinks the lease has run out
as soon as it gets it?
