'My Computer' slow to open

When I click on 'my computer' it takes about 3 minutes for the drive icons to
appear.

This happened after a sudden crash last thursday that renamed two of my hard
drives (just the ones connected to the MB) to DRV5_VOL1 and DRV7_VOL1
respectively. What the heck is DRV?

So I need Disk Management, eh? I opened computer management, clicked Disk
Management and it's been an hour now. Still waiting.

Also the same if I click 'browse' on something. Explorer doesn't work any
better than My Computer.

Everything else is normal speed. When I open a lower file and can navigate
up and down fine unless I need to access another disk.

If you can't help I'll still love you, but I sure hope someone has an idea
for little ol' me.

BTW I used AdAware and McAfee scans with no change and nothing found. I also
used Western Digital drive-to-drive copy for my C: drive so go ahead, I'm
ready to crash this thing. Hit something hard, I don't want to limp away
from this.

DRV is an abbreviation for Drive?

What errors appear in Event Viewer for your first attempt to boot in
normal mode when you encountered the problem?

Please post copies of all Error and Warning Reports appearing in the
System and Application logs in Event Viewer relating to the last boot in
normal mode . No Information Reports or Duplicates please. Indicate
which also appear in a previous boot.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning
of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description
are important.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

Another way to investigate your hard drive is to use HD Tune.

Try HD Tune only gives information and does not fix any
problems.

Download and run it and see what it turns up. You want HD Tune
(freeware) version 2.55 not HD Tune Pro (not Freeware) version 3.00.
http://www.hdtune.com/

Select the Info tabs and place the cursor on the drive under Drive
letter and then double click the two page icon ( copy to Clipboard )
and copy into a further message.

Select the Health tab and then double click the two page icon ( copy to
Clipboard ) and copy into a further message. Make sure you do a full
surface scan with HD Tune.

I have 30 warnings and 14 errors on the 30th IF that is the day of the crash
which seems like a lot to post here. The errors are all application hangs.
The errors have a 2 then 4 event pattern...the 2 are 'Userenv' and the 4 are

'Microsoft Fax'. Here's a couple of errors that occur right after Winlogon:

Am I doing this wrong or should I post everything?

Thanks Brent

Correction, it is the Warnings that come in 2s and 4s not the errors.

You are getting a lot of Reports.

Application Hang Warnings are usually symptoms not the cause.
Concentrate on Error Reports in the System Log.
