My computer restarts upon game startup - Please help.

this is the what I'm having the problem with I just got a desktop from a
friend and I'm trying to get it to work again.
Its was wiped and XP was put on it before I got it.
The problem is whenever a game or video app. tries to go full screen the
computer reboots its self no error message nothing just reboot.
I have been able to go on the internet, watch videos on U tube on it but
when you make them go full screen it will restart as well.
I have tried to get into my Directx to see if I can change anything but that
also makes it reboot.

Please help :S

Perhaps go into Device Manager and , under Video Adapters, see if there are
any exclamation marks in there.
Perhaps your resolution and refresh settings are not within the limits of
your monitor. Perhaps reinstall the monitor drivers.
Find out which video card or device is in your machine and uninstall the vid
drivers and install the latest ones for your video card.

PS: Run a good anti-virus and anti-malware scan on it.
Open it up and see if it is clogged with dust, etc (video card fan, cpu
fan/heatsink)

Are your video games an older edition? If you have the most up-to-date
video drivers (from SP2 and later) those video games may not be compatible
with SP2 security standards.
