How can "Explore" rather than "Open" be specified as the
default selection when opening the My Computer folder on
the desktop?
 
You could use Explorer's Tool menu / folder options / file types and look
for "Folder". Click the advanced button and set a new default. Or just press
Winkey + E on keyboard to launch explorer.
