'my computer' not found after sp2 install

I installed sp2 from CD and all seemed ok, restarted but afterwards when I
open 'My computer' I just get the searching torch icon.

I also lost access to my printer which will not even reinstall. Can not see
how\if the sp2 firewall is blocking printer.

Rolled back using system restore to sp1a so all OK, but I do want to install
sp2 and use its functions.
any ideas??
