my computer is very strangly slow

hello. My computer is strangly slow all of a
sudden. When i click on an icon or program it most of the
time displays the hour glass, then 6 seconds later it
disappears. And 2 minutes later the program appears and
starts to load. Sometimes it takes 5 minutes to load, so
sometimes I get impatient and try to exit. It wont exit
it just stays there. 2 minutes later a pop up asks me if
i want to end the program. I click yes. Then the program
or application ends and a pop up says if I would like to
report this incident to microsoft. I do send them
sometimes. This has happened just today. Please help me
fix this problem.

Start by running a virus scan. Make sure your antivirus application has the
latest virus definitions. The behavior you describe can be an early sign of
a virus on the system.

If you come up clean, go to Event Viewer for errors. Open Control Panel, go
to Administrative Tools, open Event Viewer. Look for errors that correspond
to when this event took or takes place. Double click the error, the
information contained within may give a clue as to the source of the issue.
