Hi Kathy, we need a bit more information than that to give you any
useful answers...
Did the printer ever work, or is it a new one.
You say you cannot print which implies you can see something on the
screen so can you confirm that you can actually see a "Desktop" with
icons etc. In other words is it just that the background picture is missing?
If not then run though the comments below.
Can you run through what happens when you switch on. Do you see a screen
with something like "Press <Del> to enter setup etc?
Do you then see the little green progress bar that indicates Vista is
starting?
Does it go white after that, or don't you ever see that?
Unfortunately your problem could be a hardware failure or something like
a "Driver" for your video system.
Can you mention how old the machine is, what make it is (eg Dell or
built by someone at a smaller store) and how this problem started. For
example did it come one suddenly or did you notice any odd behavior
(say) the week before. Any serious electrical storms or poer outages in
your area that you know of?
Did you recently install anything, software, updates, anything like that?
