dead or trojan...isn't that a bit that Letterman does?
2) how do you close programs to not open on windows startup?

Either in the program options or using msconfig, for starters.

I'm going to die rather sooner than I'd like. I tried to protect my
neighbours from crime, and became the victim of it. Complications in
hospital following this resulted in a serious illness. I now need a bone
marrow transplant. Many people around the world are waiting for a marrow
transplant, too. Please volunteer to be a marrow donor:

This is caused by a computer virus.
2) how do you close programs to not open on windows startup?

Start, run, msconfig. Uncheck anything that you don't want to run. Apply,
restart, then tell it not to prompt you again. If you don't KNOW if a
program should be running at startup, look it up here:

www.sysinfo.org

Type it into the startup search box.

SOME few programs won't be found there, but you can google them. -Dave

the program is an icon on the desktop, and vice versa
2)What makes a computer react with opening programs with every butto
pushed on the keyboard? I.e. I push a and a program pops up, I pus

Left-click start, right-click "explore all users". Make that window smaller
than full screen. Now you can drag and drop icons all you want to. You can
also right-click an icon to create a new shortcut (so you'll have an extra
to drop elsewhere).
2)What makes a computer react with opening programs with every button
pushed on the keyboard? I.e. I push a and a program pops up, I push
b and another comes up, etc. why?

That sounds like a computer virus. -Dave

2) how do you close programs to not open on windows startup?

If you go to www.sysinternals.com you'll find a number
of very unique and useful utilities, free and written by
a Windows programming expert. Among them is
"autoruns", a small utility that lists more of startup items
than most other appraoches and allows you to easily
stop loading them at startup by just unchecking them.
(You have to be careful, though. You'll find things in that
list that you've never heard of but that will cause problems
if you uncheck them.)

Also useful from Sysinternals are Regmon and Filemon.
They allow you to watch Registry activity and file activity
in real time. You can often find clues to problems that
way.
