my computer hang-up for about 40minutes to 1 hour

Hi everyone please help me my computer hang-up for about 40minutes to 1
hour and I'm having a hard time turning it off, I only unplug because
it seem the power button is not working, please help me what am I going
to do, please... : )

You've given us no information to help you with your hanging up problem, but
I'll mention one thing regarding turning it off: Unplugging it isn't
necessary; to power off using the power button, you have to hold the button
in for approximately five seconds.
 
Ken what information do you need to know for my problem, can you please

How often does this happen? What are you doing on the computer when it
happens? Exactly what does "hang up" mean" What happens? Does it hang for 40
minutes to an hour and then run normally again? If so, how long does it take
before it happens again?

Have you tried Ctrl-Alt-Delete when it happens and looking to see if some
task is not responding? Which task?

Has this been going on for a long time or has it started recently? If
recently, what is new on your computer? New software, new hardware, new
drivers, new hotfixes?

What anti-virus and antispyware software do you run? Are they all up to
date?

What edition of Windows XP do you run? Are SP2 and all-post SP2 hotfixes
installed?

What is your hardware configuration? How much RAM do you have?
