My Computer / A:,DVD and CD-RW incorrect function

Hello All,
I am running Win XP and I am having problems accessing
A:, DVD and CD-RW drives. When I try to access A: I get
an error message unable to access incorrect function from
whatever is highlighted whther it be my computer,
explorer or any other dirve? I also have NERO 5 software
installed. I am able to burn from WMP9 and read audio
CD's but not data? Any help is appreciated.

my computer does not recognize my cd-rw or my dvd roms.
i've tried to reset the computer to a previous point,
but that doesn't work either.
oh, i should tell you that when i click on my computer,
those 2 drives are not there.
i'm running windows xp home.
anyone have an answer to the problems?
did i loose my drivers?

I have had this same problem in the past and it only

sees it as a cd rom, I reloaded the software and rebooted
it and that fixed it. Dont know if it will be this simple
but good luck
