My compliments on MS' new generosity.

It's refreshing to see MS encourage third party developers to create usable
filemanager and backup applications.
If there were a smiley for sarcasm, it would go here.

Unfortunately we have to live with the dumbed down windows explorer wasting
more space than it provides in the file list, and ignoring the "Apply to All"
settings directive.

And we have the new System backup, all or nothing, Files backup which
ignores script files, and the crippled Files restore which can't do a sort
and takes so long to filter that it's better to examine the zip files
manually.

Hello BR,

Beginning 2005, Microsoft not only encouraged third party vendors for
developing their apps, Microsoft freely provided third party folks with many
tools and directions. Oddly, the third party folks did not productively
respond until the last minute complaining the job is just too difficult.

You forgot the part that they were forced to due to monopolistic behavior.

I don't really want to keep this thread going but...
I'm sure it's true that there are no talented developers outside of MS...
<sarcasm/>
But if there is a void created by Vista's "improvements", it will be filled.

What do you guys want?

MS does NOT do full blown backup and burning software for Windows. They
offer a basic means to do those tasks but really leave the building of robust
feature filled software to third party vendors. They have done this for
years, even before any complaints about them being monopolistic.

Now, if these third party vendors are too lazy or too dumb to fill the void
that MS leaves purposely for them, then I, for one, will be glad to see them
exit the consumer market. I want pro-active companies that care about their
business and customers, not lagers who can't figure it out.

Seems you guys just want to be negative whining butts! Man, like hey this
stinks, that stinks. Yeah, right. Like you could do anything near what
those folks can do. Criticism is so cheap it’s usually not worth the words
written – anyone with half a brain can do. A cave man could do it!
Intelligent folks think other thoughts, I’m sorry to tell you.

Vista left a LOT of room for improvement judging by the pleas for help...

I was wondering if we were related. My grandfather, Mr. B. A. Puss, died a
few years ago. He left alot of money.

MS has done less than that, leaving even more space for 3rd-parties.

MS Backup has always been embarrassingly sub-optimal, and wasn't even
provided to the folks who need it most; the "Home" crowd.
