My comp randomly restarts

It has been doing this since I reformatted my harddrive
about two weeks ago. In the events log of my system it
gives the error Source as Service Control Manager
the event ID: 7000
and a Description The SetupNT service failed to start due
to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified. My computer has
never done this before the reformat, and the errors seem
to coincide with ATI Smart's attempts to run.

Usually a pc that reboots itself intermittently can be attributable to a
faulty power supply. Switch it out with a good pwr supply or check the
existing with a multimeter.

I don't know what ATI Smart is, but if it is a useless video card utility you may
want to uninstall it or at least try to stop it from being loaded at start up. You
can use SpyBot Search and Destroy [free download] advanced mode to view and disable
startup programs since W2K does not have msconfig. Also view the service in Computer
management/services for properties/recovery to see that reboot is not an option there
which you can change if it is. Also you can shutdown and disable the service if it is
not used for anything important. I know Nvidia puts a stupid service on the computer
when running there setup program that I never found to be of any use. --- Steve
