My comp keeps shutting down on startup

Can anyone offer any help, when i start up my computer it
loads up as normal, then shuts down all programs that are
running and restarts itself, i have looked for viruses
and it appears to be clean. Any help would be apprieciated

I had a similar problem recently. It turned out in my
case that the CPU fan was failing and would fall below a
threshold rpm. The motherboard has a safety protection
that shuts down the PC to prevent thermal damage. I
believe there are other things that can create the same
effect, but these items vary a lot from one manufacturer
to another.
 
Don't forget the Blaster worm does this too. Do you get any
warnings or messages during the shutdown?
