I need help to restore my burner back to health.
I can no longer burn audio CD's or save to my E drive.
I was told that when I upgraded to XP that I would need
to update my driver. I would update my driver but I have
no Idea what version of Roxio is on my PC.
Or even if Roxio is the Software I have.
I do know that I have some burning software on my PC
called CEQuadret.
Any help would be appreciated.

Try downloading a free program called AIDA32. It will provide you with a
very detailed listing of all hardware and software installed on your PC.

As for burning, asuming that you have some variation of East CD Creator, be
aware that you must have a minimum of version 5 (plus patches). Version 4
or lower will not work under XP. The current version is 6, with patches to
6.2. If use Easy CD Creator (6.2) and am very happy with it for music,
data, video, and bootable CDs. It also handles DVDs, in case you ever get a
DVD recorder.

One tricky thing about Easy CD is that you have to uninstall it before
upgrading to XP. If, like me, you did not do that, then you need to
uninstall it manually before installing an XP compatible version. In fac,
even if you have version 5, you should uninstall it and reinstall it to be
safe. This used to be a hassle, involing registry editing. More recenty
Roxio has issued a generic uninstaller for all of its software. It is
called roxiozap.exe.
