I have a sony cdrom dvd/cd rw drive..I place a cd in the drive and it says
that there is not cd to insert. I have checked all i can, but nothing seems
to be helping. Help!! Please!!!

LauriAnna, depending on the age and usage of the drive it could be just worn
out. It's a combo drive so try dvd or
cdrw. See if anything is recognized.

Are you trying a homeburned disc?

Try a buanch or original CDs and/or DVD too see if they work..

My computer is only 9 months old and it seemed to stop working one day my
nephew was trying to download software for his mp3 player. I wonder if maybe
he erased something, like a file, maybe? I have tried all cd's, even a
cleaner.

You could try letting WinXP reinstall it. Rt click MyComputer>select
Properties>then Hardware>Device Manager>Dvd/Cdrom Drives>rt click on your
drive and select Uninstall. Restart the Computer and XP will find and
reinstall it.

Barry, I understand what she is talking about b/c I am having the same
problem. I have Itunes which I believe lauriann also has. I was trying to
burn a cd but the program stopped it for some reason, I think b/c the cd was
scratched. Then instead of pushing the eject cd button in itunes I just pused
the eject button on my computer which I believe messed up my drive b/c it was
still processing the burn while I was trying to eject the cd and now it is
messed up. What should I do barry?
