My case fan is dead..

...in the BIOS configurator I read ''Chassis Fan: N/A'' and.. when I
shut down, the PC switches to stand-by instead!! The CPU fan works and
the MOBO thermosensors don't throw any 'exception'.. It's an Athlon XP
2000 on an Asus A7N266-VM. Pre-thanks!

If the chassis (case) fan is dead, replace it.

Incredibly, I restarted the PC and the fan was reborn!

Replace it anyway. You have no idea as to why it quit and it's probably
going bad.
