Games:
Lego Star Wars: Intilation Had an error at the end. Reinstalled giving the
install file windows Xp compatibility and admin rights. Installed fine and
played fined after this fix
Age of Empires 3: There is a warning that pops up stating that the game will
not function on this OS. Just click continue and install. On first run user
will be kicked to desktop with a permissions dialog. Give it permissions and
Play the game. In game works fine no issues noticed
Grand theft auto San Andreas: Installs and works fine
Quake 4: Installs and plays fine, though openAl Functionality is missing on
64 bit vista, works fine in 32 bit vista. Creative needs to get their act
together here as this was also present in windows xp64.
Call of Duty 2: Sound crackles every so often.
Titan Quest: works great, even at 2560x1600
Company of Heros: Works great no issues
Star Wars Empire at war: no issues game play fine
Star Wars Empire at war Forces of corruption: no issues game play fine
Unreal Tournament 2004 64 bit: no issues game play fine
Halo: Unable to switch resolutions, this is a graphic driver issue as the
screen will no redraw if you attempt to change the resolution, screen stays
black. Note: this is Not an issue in 32 bit vista
X-men Legends 2 Rise of Apocalypse: no issues, game play fine
Ultimate Spiderman: Glitching during first part of game FMV, Game plays fine
after that. There are minor texture seaming issues but are rare. Game runs
and plays great even at 2560x1600

Note about the last 2 games, these did run at all in Windows XP64 so it was
a surprise to see them run in vista 64
Hitman 2: Game installs and runs fine
Dungeon siege 2: Game installs and runs fine
Dungeon siege 2 Broken world: Game installs and runs fine
ScareFace the world is yours: Game installs but is completely unplayable:
Graphic corruption all over in game. Might be a Graphics driver issue but as
this is the only game this bad I am not sure.

It does this in windows xp also.
Lord of the rings battle for middle earth 2: Game.dat Crash at launch of
game. This is a known problem for this game dating all the way back to its
launch. It does this in windows xp also.
Note about the last 2 games, EA support sucks, I have Never been able to
play these games, even on windows xp due to this error. Reinstalling the game
doesn’t help.

audio stutter that is heard occasionaly.
Prey: Installs and plays fine

Tony Hawn Underground 2: Installs and plays fine
Neverwinter nights: Installs and plays fine
Doom 3: Installs and plays fine, though openAl Functionality is missing on
64 bit vista, works fine in 32 bit vista. Creative needs to get their act
together here as this was also present in windows xp64.
Doom 3 resurection of evil: Installs and plays fine, though openAl
Functionality is missing on 64 bit vista, works fine in 32 bit vista.
Creative needs to get their act together here as this was also present in
windows xp64.
ROE was a nice surprise as it installed just fine, in windows XP64 it
wouldn’t install because it does an OS check.
Half Life 2: Will Crash to desktop When trying to dispay front end. Must
force HL2 to use 32 bit mode by using the -32bit switch. 64 bit is broken.

Anydvd: Installs and works Great
Internet Download manager: Installs and works Great

Hi - Did you just do the test yourself, game by game, program by program or
is there a download that can check compatibility for you? Thanks!

I did this myself, took 2 days just to install and test to see if the games
ran.
nothing exstensive.

You state that Nero 7 was okay, I unfortunatley have had issues with it.
Which version are you using, I am using NERO 7 Ultimate, Front end loads but
when you actually try and burn disc it bombs. Tried my dads Roxio Easy CD 8
Suite and that works really well.

Games that I have tested.
Dark Messiah of Might and Magic (Steam Release) - Works fine.
Guild Wars - (Works fine although little jumpy, Could be ping issue)
Battlefield 2142 Demo - No issues.
FEAR Extraction point - No issues.

I have seen including myself about 5 to 8 people who cannot run scarface
world is yours on vista. Figures the first game I buy will not work on my
new computer.

I'm having trouble with dungeon siege 2, keep getting a protection stub
error, tried turning DEP off for this but to no avail, also tried running the
exe in compatibility mode and as admin, any ideas?

Vista is giving me the creeps...
I've tried that a large number of times. The run as administrator thing.
And also run as XP2.
Still not working.
Not even Microsofts own games, like Rise of Nation and Rise of Legends

Have to admit that Vista have not convinced me yet.
1. My games don't work.
2. My computer has two speeds: slow and very slow.
3. So search-minded, I can't find what I'm looking for.

No, if I can't get it fixed soon, I'll just have too admit my money is lost.
Buying Vista was a mistake.
I'm nothing but a guinea-pig for the Giant who produced and marketed such a
crappy OS.

The computer is 3 weeks old, and the specs are as follow:

Vista gave me hell for the first month, but it runs fine now, XP ran like
crap for 3-6 months when I first got it. IMO Vista has been a much better
experience.

I won't even go into my Windows ME experience.

In other words, it could be worse dude. Good news though Windows XP is STILL
available, just have to kick yourself in the ass for buying a Dx10 video
card and not being able to run Dx10.

Ah well.

After spending some time reading about the complexities inside of Vista its
amazing things work at all. The display and audio driver mfg have it the
worst, what with the bizarre DRM stuff they have to add to the drivers (tilt
bits!). But everything else is significantly more complex in Vista than in
XP, from registry spoofing to memory management to hardware execution
protection. I suspect it will take developers quite a long time to navigate
everything. They've been working on it for over a year now and barely have
achieved basic functionality.

Just be patient, things will get better!

Got a year wiser and smarter today.
Yes ofcourse; it's my birthday. Do you know what present I got from my
Vista-computer:
My first Vista blue screen !
IRQ not less or equal :)

As you guys say to me, I'll just have to be patient, things will hopefully
get better. Thanks for your moral support.

PS. There are actually some features in Vista that I like a lot...
