My Bad -- need help

Not a catastrophe, but I'd really like to resolve this as easily as possible!

I backup my C:, D:, and E: drives by simply copying the file structures onto
my large F: drive, no compression needed. Usually I am careful about the
directories & files I choose to copy from C:, but today I was in a hurry and
ended up copying these two directories to F: drive:

c:\windows\system32\drivers

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Favorites

Well, now along with all the other files I backed up on my F: drive, I have
these two directories which I
-can not access and
-can not view the contents of

The error messages I get when clicking on these directories on my backup
drive are:
-F:\c_backup\windows\system32\Drivers is not accessible. Access is denied.
-Cannot delete Drivers: Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or
write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.

So I changed the folders & all the subfolders and files attributes from
READ-ONLY to NOT read-only in the properties dialog and click apply/ok, but
it still won't let me access the folders. Furthermore, when I go back into
properties, the file is BACK to read-only again!

Also, I can not change, move, or delete any parent folders.

I have tried everything I can think of:

-tried to delete them fresh after a reboot (same error message)
-tried to delete them in safe mode (same error message)
-tried to delete them in safe mode with prompt using
DEL F:\c_backup\windows\system32\Drivers (access denied)
-tried to change the attributes in safe mode with prompt (can't find any
files)
(One of the folders I am trying to get rid of has a parent folder with a
space in its name and I can't access it with dos commands, and I can't change
the name)
-tried to delete them in debugging safe mode
-tried using moveonboot utility, which failed
-tried running scandisk

**I have tried all permutations of the above attempts to delete/move these
folders**

What complicates this is that I can not even view the contents of these
folders. I also tried looking at the original folder's contents on the C:
drive and giving a specific dos command like

del F:\c_backup\windows\system32\drivers\apci.sys

and the error says "wrong file name"

I suspect

a) windows is using the drivers in the drivers folder on my backup drive
(but, why, when it has the drivers on the C: drive?)

b) the folders I copied have some special system attribute that can not be
changed.

Maybe if I somehow connect my F: drive to an already-booted computer via a
usb/external type connection I could delete them?

Please help. I can use my computer fine for now, but those folders bug me!

You may have to take ownership..
How to take ownership of a file or folder in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308421&Product=winxp
In XP Home you have to boot in safe mode to see the security tab. In XP
Pro you have to disable simple file sharing.
