A internet program has changed my image on my screen to a file called
desctop.htm - its a link to their viruspage on the net. I cant rightclick on
the desctop and chose an other image by propeties like before. -how can i
fix this?

First, be sure your antivirus software has the latest definitions and run a
virus scan.

Second, download, install and run Ad Aware:

If this is a relatively recent issue, you might try using System Restore to
take you back to a time when this worked properly. Start\All
Programs\Accessories\System Tools\System Restore. If that doesn't resolve
it, try the information below.

If i need to format and reinstall win-xp - how can i find my serialnumber
on win-xp? It came pre installed on the computer! It´s a valid registrated
copy that is good for update by microsoft.

In addition to Michael's suggestions, right click the desktop and select
Properties. On the Desktop page, click the Customize Desktop button. On the
next screen that appears, click the Web tab. In the list on that screen you
should see the listing for the page that was plopped onto your desktop.
Uncheck the item or click to highlight it and then click the Delete button.

If your system came with a CD, there should be a CD key on a sticker on the
PC. If they gave you no CD, they are required to give you some sort of
recovery procedure. Check your documentation or with your PC manufacturer's
tech support as to the steps to follow.
